  2. Davis Party and Roast RSVP Deadline Nears • Read Part of Their History With Hope Here

    Who Are They
A upper-level manager in a large computer company and a housewife offered their living room for a Bible study on Romans in 1976. The study they led birthed a new part of the Church in Austin. Together with 13 college students (Jack Dorman included), they founded Hope Chapel. Before Dan retires, he’ll be preaching on September 13th. So if you don’t know him well, come and hear his heart. Then come celebrate and bless Dan and Joann on Saturday, October 3rd at 5:30 p.m.

    RSVP Now
Please RSVP no later than September 5th to <dan-joann@rwalker.us>.

    • worship
    • roasting (no holds barred)
    • stories
    • prayers and blessing

Let us give thanks together for God’s calling on this couple and their faithfulness in walking it out.

  3. Women of Hope Thursday Morning Bible Study Begins September 10th • RSVP by the 3rd for Child Care

Ladies, please join us as we discuss C.S. Lewis’s classic, Mere Christianity. This great book provides an unequaled opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to hear a powerful apologetic for the Christian faith.

We will meet on Thursday mornings, from 9:30 to 11:30, beginning on September 10 and going through October. This is a great way to connect with other women as well as to strengthen your faith.

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
    1 Peter 3:15

  4. Family Night is about to begin!!

At Hope Chapel we value small groups and we have lots of them of all sorts of sizes, configurations, times, and locations.  In fact, we believe that it is in small groups that we really live out our faith.  So, I encourage you to get involved in a small group if you are not already.

But, this morning, I wanted to let you know about a special collection of small groups that meet here at the church on Wednesday nights during the school year.  We call the evening Family Night and I think you should come check it out!  The evening starts with a shared meal in the Family Room available from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.  From 6:30 to 8:00 pm a variety of groups meet in rooms all over our campus.  There are arts groups, family and marriage oriented groups, discipleship oriented groups, and more. This is also when our Junior High youth group meets.   Fun activities are planned for the children as well.    We start on Wednesday September 9th and I hope to see you all there!

  5. Thursday Night Church

    Dearly Beloved,

On August 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Room we will be holding an informational meeting about the start-up of a Thursday Night Church service. Our current plan will be to start the Thursday Night Church services on the evening of September 24.

If you are interested in more details or in helping to shape this effort, please plan on participating in the gathering on August 27. I will be sharing some of my vision for the gathering as well as my hopes for its impact.

We also have a great need to find out who will be willing to help with the various components of the gathering from setting up chairs to running a computer & projector, to serving communion.

I look forward to seeing you on August 27th at 7:00 p.m.

  6. Dan and Joann Davis’ Finally Retired Party & Roast

Dan & Joann thru the years

The rumors are true. Dan Davis, at long last, is finally retiring (as is Joann) and we think it fitting to mark this occasion in high fashion. Come on Saturday, October 3rd from 5:30-7:00 p.m. to bless and honor them both for investing their lives in us, the city of Austin, and abroad. We’ll start in the auditorium with the Roast and move to the Family Room after for hors d’oeuvres. Please RSVP no later than September 5th to <dan-joann@rwalker.us>

After 40 years of faithful service, the harvest is abundant and continuing: Hope Chapel, Hope in the City, Church of the Hills, The Antioch Network, Austin Bridge Builder’s Alliance, ITN, Pastors in Covenant, Red River Church, etc. The list of individuals, institutions, and ministries, and even countries that have been impacted by their labor is a very long one.

    Financial Support

As Dan and Joann enter this new season, there is need for continued financial support. Would you prayerfully consider joining in giving for their monthly support, or a one time contribution? To administer these gifts, Hope Chapel has established “The Dan Davis Legacy Fund.” Checks should be written to “Hope Chapel” and include notation that the money is to be used for Dan and Joann’s retirement support (Mailing: Hope Chapel, 6701 Arroyo Seco, Austin, TX 78757).

We look forward to you taking part in this special way of honoring them and their ongoing legacy. This event, as well as the support raised, is our gift to them, an acknowledgement of the gift of their lives and ministry which God placed among us for “such a time as this.”

Invite Everyone You Know Who Knows Them

All are welcome. We are doing our best to reach the many touched by their lives. If you know someone who has been blessed by over the years, please forward this invitation to them. Use this hope.org page or the Facebook Event to invite others. But please RSVP to the email above.

Dan and Joann are excited to see everyone again.
