  2. Meet Pastor Emre

Turkey is much in the news…and not just at Hope Chapel.  Here’s a chance to get up close to what is happening there.

Join us Wednesday evening at 7PM in the Lighthouse at Hope to meet and hear from Emre K., a significant leader in the church in Turkey.
    • He has been mentored by two of the more “apostolicly gifted” workers in Turkey. He was led to the lord in 2000 by and discipled for several years in Adana with Humberto C. Here he was grounded in evangelism and church planting. He carries the C’s fearless faith and passion.
    • About 10 years ago he married and moved to Izmit to help with the church there who had lost leaders in connection with the Malatya murders fall out. Here he came under the mentorship of Carlos M.
    • Then a few years ago while he was leading the church in Izmit police uncovered a plot to kill his entire family on the day it was to happen. The court case goes on with the perpetrators known and free.
    • Emre has been consistently committed to follow up, church planting, and evangelism. He’s learned a passable amount of English. Today he’s working with a couple of church plants in the outlying areas of Istanbul.
    • He is also taking increasing leadership in the Istanbul Protestant Church Foundation.
    • He’s beginning an internet radio station and developing a lot of content.
  3. Babysitting 101

Calling all kids aged 9 and older. Do you enjoy being with little kids but wish you had more skills in order to take care of them? Are you an older brother or sister who needs ideas on how to keep your younger siblings entertained and out of trouble? Do you want little kids to follow your instructions?

Join Ariel Czerwinski and Hala Tompkins for Babysitting 101 on Saturday, August 18, from 9-10:30am. Topics to be covered include:

    • How to create a plan for your babysitting assignment (ideas for activities, crafts and games).
    • What information you need before parents walk out of the house (emergency contact info and allergy info form).
    • What to do if someone gets an “owie” ? (Basic first aid and when to call 911.)
    • Why “stranger danger” is a good thing. (Safety and common sense.)

Kids who complete the class will leave with a Babysitting Resource Kit and a certificate of completion.
