What's new at Hope.

  1. Thursday Night Church Info Mtg.

Detailed information about the start-up of Thursday Night Church at Hope Chapel will be discussed at this gathering in the Family Room on Thursday, August 27th at 7:00 p.m.

  2. Family Night Begins September 9th – Your Family Within a Family

At Hope Chapel, a special collection of small groups meet at the church building on Wednesday nights during the school year.  We call the evening Family Night. Come check it out!  The evening starts with a shared meal in the Family Room available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.  From 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. a variety of groups meet in rooms all over our campus.  There are arts’ groups, family and marriage oriented groups, discipleship oriented groups, and more. This is also when our Junior High youth group meets. Fun activities are planned for the younger children as well.

Try it out on Wednesday, September 9th.

  3. Family Night

At Hope Chapel we believe strongly that it is in the context of small groups that we really live out our faith in Christ and grow to become all that God dreams for us.

Supper is available from 5:30 – 6:15 pm.  A donation basket is there if you want to chip in to help defray the cost but the meal is offered free of charge.  At 6:15 pm childcare begins and we do a quick clean up  of the family room and kitchen.  Groups begin at 6:30 pm and end at 8 pm.

Here are the groups currently set to meet:

    • McCharen Hope Group – a group for anyone but mainly consisting of families with kids
    • Tompkins Hope Group – a group for anyone but will be particularly helpful for those who are new to small group life and are not sure where to start or for those jumping back into small group life and are not sure what they want in a small group yet.  Think of this group as a wonderful entryway into small group life
    • Dooldeynia Hope Group – a group primarily for couples which focuses on marriage and family issues
    • Good and Beautiful discipleship group – a group that meets for the purpose of going through the three book “Good and Beautiful” discipleship series beginning this semester with book one, Good and Beautiful God. This group is mostly full already but if there is enough interest we will offer a second group.  Please let me know if you are interested.
    • Hope Arts Studio group – this group meets in our own Hope Chapel art studio and “does” art while connecting relationally.
    • Hope Arts Writers’ group – this group meets for the purpose of helping its participants become better writers of prose, poetry, or whatever.

  4. Thursday Night Church

Join us for our Thursday Night service in the Family Room at Hope Chapel! Thursday Night Church opens with some art, continues with sermon discussion, and ends the evening with worship and prayer.

There will be no Thursday Night Church (TNC) on Christmas Eve or on the following Thursday, the 31st. TNC starts up again on January 7th.

This service has no child care or classes for kids. If you don’t attend on Thursday nights, then come to the “other” service (Children’s classes available).

  5. Dan and Joann Davis’ Finally Retired Party & Roast

Dan & Joann thru the years

The rumors are true. Dan Davis, at long last, is finally retiring (as is Joann) and we think it fitting to mark this occasion in high fashion. Come on Saturday, October 3rd from 5:30-7:00 p.m. (Greet and Greet in the Family Room at 4:30 p.m.) to bless and honor them both for investing their lives in us, the city of Austin, and abroad. We’ll start in the auditorium with the Roast and move to the Family Room after for hors d’oeuvres. Come even if you did not RSVP.

After 40 years of faithful service, the harvest is abundant and continuing: Hope Chapel, Hope in the City, Church of the Hills, The Antioch Network, Austin Bridge Builder’s Alliance, ITN, Pastors in Covenant, Red River Church, etc. The list of individuals, institutions, and ministries, and even countries that have been impacted by their labor is a very long one.

    Financial Support

As Dan and Joann enter this new season, there is need for continued financial support. Would you prayerfully consider joining in giving for their monthly support, or a one time contribution? To administer these gifts, Hope Chapel has established “The Dan Davis Legacy Fund.” Checks should be written to “Hope Chapel” and include notation that the money is to be used for Dan and Joann’s retirement support (Mailing: Hope Chapel, 6701 Arroyo Seco, Austin, TX 78757).

We look forward to you taking part in this special way of honoring them and their ongoing legacy. This event, as well as the support raised, is our gift to them, an acknowledgement of the gift of their lives and ministry which God placed among us for “such a time as this.”

Invite Everyone You Know Who Knows Them

All are welcome. We are doing our best to reach the many touched by their lives. If you know someone who has been blessed by over the years, please forward this invitation to them. Use this page or the Facebook Event to invite others.

Dan and Joann are excited to see everyone again.

We’ll meet here at Hope Chapel, 6701 Arroyo Seco, Austin, 78757.

  6. Congregational Meeting

Don’t miss this twice a year event – if you don’t come now, you’ll have to wait until next Spring…so plan to attend our next check-up on what is happening at Hope Chapel. Consider this bi-annual meeting a chance to hear how finances and ministries are progressing, and what is on the horizon. Questions will be answered. Light snacks will be served.

We regret that the deadline has passed to reserve child care.
