What's new at Hope.

  1. Sunday Morning Livestream at 10AM

Join us for our livestream service with worship (singing) and the Bible explained in a sermon this Sunday at 10:00 AM. Invite someone to the service with you. Please feel free to share the link:

You can also find us by looking for “Live” on our YouTube home page at youtube.com/hopechapelatx

Our Sunday livestream is our primary way to worship during the Covid-19 social distancing while we’re out of the building. We see the people of Hope Chapel as the “church” not our building that houses us when we meet.

Check out hope.org for more events happening on Zoom weekly also.

  2. Gifts Night

A Talent Show Which Requires You!

WHAT IS GIFTS NIGHT? A LESS STRESSED, MORE BLESSED NIGHT
It’s license to do something crazy, fun, and outrageous or to showcase a hidden talent that you have that your friends like! At a Gifts’ Night, we don’t care where you stole it from, will only give you about 5 minutes, and aren’t looking for perfection – just your contribution!

    WHAT GIFTS CAN I SHARE?
Poetry, stand-up, songs, dramatic readings or play scene, improv, skits, short videos (of things you can’t do in Hope’s building: like the mountain bike ride we saw last time), anything a lot of people would find interesting, It’s license to do something crazy, fun, and outrageous or to showcase a hidden talent that you have that your friends like!

IS THIS 8MM BY ANOTHER NAME?
No. Here’s a description of 8MM, “It’s a chance to present your artistic works in progress to a safe, loving, encouraging, and receptive audience.”

At a Gifts’ Night, we don’t care where you stole it from, will only give you about 5 minutes, and can only promise not to boo you. It’s more like a high school talent show with no prizes. And we encourage lots of silly acts in between the classical guitar solos and deep poetry which are most welcome.

    WHAT IT’S NOT
Your first piano recital. Something randomly thrown together that’s wouldn’t have been entertaining even with rehearsal. Go with a basic skill level (juggling while eating an apple) or something funny/entertaining that doesn’t need much skill (your Hope Group’s cheerleading cheer). THINK: what can I do that will help people be less stressed or more blessed?

BTW, it’s not using the Gifts of the Holy Spirit or your gift of teaching. We once had someone misunderstand – awkward.

WHO CAN SIGN UP AND WHEN?
Households, solo acts, families, Hope Groups (the latter are encouraged to do a song or skit together and include kids). Youth Group is welcome to do an act (in fact, we have one in mind for you). Solo acts are welcome.

So start thinking! And set the date aside to contine an old Hope tradition. Sign ups begin in early July.

DOES IT FIT? RUN IT BY THE CURATOR BEFORE YOU SIGN UP
Contact Cathy Tucek to sign up or fit out if your “thing” fits this night!

  3. Baptism Class

Join Matt and Hala for two classes designed to prepare parents and their children for baptism. Classes meet on July 25 and August 8 at 9:30am. We plan to meet in person, but if COVID precautions prevent this, we’ll meet via Zoom. Details for the baptism service will be communicated closer to the actual date.

Contact Hala to sign up and to reserve childcare.

  6. Lyrics for Worship on the Lawn 8/9

Lyrics for Worship on the Lawn 8/9

NOTE: Following our worship time outdoors, children are invited to join Hala Tompkins on the playground for an age-appropriate Bible lesson.

     Our God

Water You turned into wine, Opened the eyes of the blind,

There’s no one like you, None like you

Into the darkness You shine, Out of the ashes we rise
There’s No one like you, None like you

Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power, Our God, Our God

And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?

And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?

    The Same Love
You choose the humble and raise them high

You choose the weak and make them strong
You heal our brokenness inside and give us life

The same love that set the captives free, The same love that opened eyes to see
Is calling us all by name, You are calling us all by name

The same God that spread the heavens wide, The same God that was crucified
Is calling us all by name, You are calling us all by name

You take the faithless one aside, And speak the words “You are mine”
You call the cynic and the proud, Come to me now

You’re calling, You’re calling, You’re calling us to the cross
You’re calling, You’re calling, You’re calling us to the cross

    This Is Amazing Grace

Who breaks the power of sin and darkness,

Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder

And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder

The King of Glory, the King above all kings

This is amazing grace, This is unfailing love
That You would take my place, That You would bear my cross
You laid down Your life, That I would be set free,

Oh, Jesus, I sing for, All that You’ve done for me

Who brings our chaos back into order,

Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory, the King of Glory

Who rules the nations with truth and justice,

Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

This is amazing grace, This is unfailing love
That You would take my place, That You would bear my cross
You laid down Your life, That I would be set free,

Oh, Jesus, I sing for, All that You’ve done for me

    Worthy is the Lamb

Thank you for the cross, Lord, Thank you for the price You paid

Bearing all my sin and shame, In love You came, And gave amazing grace

Thank you for this love, Lord, Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow, Now all I know, Your forgiveness and embrace

Worthy is the Lamb, Seated on the throne,

Crown You now with many crowns, You reign victorious

High and lifted up, Jesus Son of God, Beloved of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb, Worthy is the Lamb…

    In the Secret

In the secret in the quiet place, In the stillness you are there
In the secret in the quiet hour I wait, only for you,

‘Cause I want to know you more

I want to know you, I want to hear your voice, I want to know you more
I want to touch you, I want to see your face, I want to know you more

I am reaching for the highest goal, That I might receive the prize
Pressing onward, pushing every hindrance aside, Out of my way

‘Cause I want to know you more
