Children's Ministry

Updates from the Children's Ministry.

  1. What to Expect on Sundays–Parents

The remodel is over and all of our kids’ classes are being held in the education wing of our main building again. Please join us for the fun as we reacquaint ourselves with the familiar spaces that are new again.

Your first stop on Sunday morning should be at a HopeKids Check In Kiosk. You will find one in the Family Room and another in the coffee shop. Print out name tags for each of your kids fifth grade and younger. Each child in our program needs to wear a nametag to class.

Classes for kids in Kindergarten and younger are on the ground floor. The rooms are marked to make it simple to find the one you need. Elementary classes are held upstairs and are also labeled.

During the summer, Sunday classes for fours and younger begin at 9:55. Kindergarten and older classes begin after families worship together.

As always, there will be friendly people in blue HopeKids t-shirts to help you in any way needed.

Come join the new and make us newer still!

  2. Children’s Baptism Classes in May

    Hello Parents of Hope!

Our annual baptism Sunday is scheduled for June 2, 2019. If your child has been asking about being baptized this year, please plan on attending two classes with Matt Ryniker and Hala Tompkins on May 22 and 29. We’ll begin at 6:30 in the second grade classroom and be done by 8.

Designed for children aged eight and older, these two classes are designed to help parents and kids determine together if this is the right year for baptism. Because of this, parents are asked to attend class with their children each week.

Contact Hala if you have more questions or would like to sign up for the class. Childcare will be provided upon request.

  3. Come watch The Pilgrim’s Progress on March 20

Just in time for spring break:

Hope Chapel has been chosen as a pre-release location of the new movie, The Pilgrim’s Progress. We’ll play on the playground and eat dinner outside starting at 5. The movie will begin at 6:15 in the sanctuary. Bring a friend!

Contact Emily Harris for more details.

  4. Parent/Child Dedication Classes coming in February

Calling all new parents! Have you had a baby in the past few months or years? Have you considered publicly dedicating your child to the Lord Jesus? Do you have questions about how to create a Christian home?

Plan to join Pastor Geno Hildebrandt and Children’s Ministry Director Hala Tompkins for two classes on Saturday, February 2 and 9, 2019. We will discuss the significance of child dedication, parents’ responsibilities in raising their children in the “fear and admonition of the Lord” and how to bless your children. We’ll also talk about Christian parenting and creating a Christian home. Couples are encouraged to attend these classes together.

Sign up for the classes and childcare by completing the form below.

We are sorry the time for reserving childcare has passed.

  5. Parenting Conversations– an ongoing opportunity

Are you looking for encouragement in your parenting journey? Do you just need to talk through a situation with an experienced parent? Hope Chapel’s children’s ministry exists to partner with parents and to strengthen you for the marathon of raising kids to love Jesus.

We LOVE empowering parents to be parents! Just complete the form below and we’ll be in touch!

  6. Babysitting 101 coming again in 2019

We’ll take sign ups for our second Babysitting 101 class starting in January. Check back here for updates.

Calling all kids aged 9 and older. Do you enjoy being with little kids but wish you had more skills in order to take care of them? Are you an older brother or sister who needs ideas on how to keep your younger siblings entertained and out of trouble? Do you want little kids to follow your instructions?

Join Ariel Czerwinski and Hala Tompkins for Babysitting 101 on Saturday, August 18, from 9-10:30am. Topics to be covered include:

    • How to create a plan for your babysitting assignment (ideas for activities, crafts and games).
    • What information you need before parents walk out of the house (emergency contact info and allergy info form).
    • What to do if someone gets an “owie” ? (Basic first aid and when to call 911.)
    • Why “stranger danger” is a good thing. (Safety and common sense.)

Kids who complete the class will leave with a Babysitting Resource Kit and a certificate of completion.
