Children's Ministry

Updates from the Children's Ministry.

  1. Babysitting 101 coming on August 18

Calling all kids aged 9 and older. Do you enjoy being with little kids but wish you had more skills in order to take care of them? Are you an older brother or sister who needs ideas on how to keep your younger siblings entertained and out of trouble? Do you want little kids to follow your instructions?

Join Ariel Czerwinski and Hala Tompkins for Babysitting 101 on Saturday, August 18, from 9-10:30am. Topics to be covered include:

    • How to create a plan for your babysitting assignment (ideas for activities, crafts and games).
    • What information you need before parents walk out of the house (emergency contact info and allergy info form).
    • What to do if someone gets an “owie” ? (Basic first aid and when to call 911.)
    • Why “stranger danger” is a good thing. (Safety and common sense.)

Kids who complete the class will leave with a Babysitting Resource Kit and a certificate of completion.

This class is almost full. Contact Hala to sign up today!

  2. AtHome Weekly available online for parents

    Dear Parents,

As a way to partner with you as you disciple your children, we are happy to provide you with a PDF of the HomeFront Weekly handout.

HomeFront Weeklies are far more than a “Take-Home” page: they allow you to pre-teach the Bible lesson that will be taught next Sunday morning in our kids’ classes at Hope Chapel.  They are a valuable tool which can equip you to be the primary nurturers of your children’s faith in your home during the week.

Take some time this week to read through the scripture passages and do a couple of the activities with your children. You’ll be glad you did!

  4. Christmas Program Dress Rehearsal– This Saturday

    Dear Parents of Hope,

For those of you who have children aged three and up, there is a great likelihood that they will need to be at the dress rehearsal for our Christmas program this Saturday, December 5.

According to the schedule, elementary kids will sing their first song at 9:45 and preschoolers (3’s, 4’s, 5’s, and kinders) will be singing about an hour later than that. If you have children playing on the worship team, they need to be at Hope by 8:30. Junior High kids who are readers also need to be at Hope by 8:30.

If you have both elementary and preschool children, you can bring your older kids and leave them in the care of Anne Tibbetts and then come back for the preschool rehearsal section. Also, you may want to have your child bring a book to read or a pad to draw on while they wait for their turn to rehearse.

The program is on Sunday at 6pm. Please plan on arriving at Hope no later than 5:30. Preschoolers can be brought to the sanctuary and elementary kids can go up to the den to warm up their voices with Anne Tibbetts.

What to wear: Long pants or skirts, dark colors or Christmas colors or just a nice outfit. Whatever you already own is great!

You can ask Nance more questions on Saturday at the rehearsal. Thank you so much for working with us to make great memories!

  5. Thank you for supporting Austin LifeCare and the kids of Hope

The baby bottle donation drive for Austin LifeCare was a big success! Thank you to all of you who brought your filled bottles back to Hope by August 23. We were able to deliver more than $700 to ALC this week.

Thanks for participating in this effort with the 3-5th graders of Hope Chapel.

  6. Donation Drive for Austin LifeCare Begins this Sunday

The Kids of Hope are filling up baby bottles with coins to bless Austin LifeCare in their ministry to mothers, fathers and babies. If you would like to participate in this donation drive, pick up a baby bottle from the basket in the foyer or the coffee shop. Take it home, fill it up and bring it back to Hope Chapel by August 23. We’ll deliver the filled bottles to Austin LifeCare on Anderson Lane. There are plenty of bottles if you’d like to take extras for your family and friends.
